This site provides basic contact information and descriptions of the programs, including research, which the organization supports. There are also links provided to other websites related to autoimmune disorders.

American Diabetes Association

The ADA site includes a description of the types of research funded: peer-reviewed projects aimed at preventing, treating and curing all types of diabetes. Examples include genetics, islet cell biology, immunology, diabetes education and behavioral research. A link is provided to application forms and program descriptions targeted at medical students and junior faculty. Information on previous award winners recipients is also available.

Arthritis Foundation

This site offers information on the three major initiatives funded by the Arthritis Foundation: Career Development and Training Programs; Basic, Clinical and Health Services Research; and Special Targeted Research Initiatives. It also provides many examples of the recipients of the organization's multiple awards. A link is offered to submit proposals online via “proposalCENTRAL”.

Arthritis National Research Foundation

This organization is a funding source for young scientists working on basic and clinical autoimmune diseases. Grants are awarded competitively, and ANRF gives 10-15 awards of $75,000 for one or two years.

Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation

This site contains information about ongoing research supported by CCF, as well as the current criteria for CCFA grants. Application forms and submission deadlines are also provided.

Johnson & Johnson /Society for the Arts in Healthcare

The aim of this organization is to promote the use of the arts to enhance the healthcare experience for patients, their families, and caregivers. Proposals are being sought from healthcare organizations and/or arts agencies working in partnership to produce innovative projects to serve patients, their families, and caregivers in healthcare settings to promote healing and preventative health.  J&J/SAH projects may be located in a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals, hospices, medical schools, public health services, or other community health programs.

The LFA has focused its support on areas of research where gaps in understanding of lupus exist and where other public and private organizations are not focusing their efforts. Their site includes information on their funding opportunities as well as opportunities through external agencies in the area of lupus research.

This site provides a Frequently Asked Questions document that details the types of programs funded for investigators. The Resources for Researchers page provides information on specimen banks, clinical trials, and results published by recent Society grantees.

National Psoriasis Foundation

This site describes the foundation’s “seed grants” which support innovative research projects in psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis. Grants are intended to support preliminary investigations that can be later expanded for NIH or other funding. A research grant application can be downloaded in PDF format.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation provides research funding for an array of solicited and unsolicited projects. Research grants account for roughly 20 percent of Foundation awards. Projects are quite diverse, ranging from small, quick-strike targeted research studies that inform the strategic direction of our grantmaking to more elaborate research-driven demonstrations. On the site, you can view an outline of different research categories. The Foundation also sponsors a Physician Faculty Scholars Program, is intended to strengthen the leadership and academic productivity of junior medical school faculty dedicated to improving health and health care.

SLE Lupus Foundation, Inc.

The SLE Lupus Foundation site includes Requests for Proposals and application forms for its research grants, career development awards, and extended fellowships.

Scleroderma Foundation

This site offers a Research section that describes the mission and philosophy of the Scleroderma Foundation. Proposals by researchers new to the field of scleroderma are preferred although studies in new directions by established researchers are considered as well. Details of the proposal format and timetables for submission and review are given.

Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation

This organization’s focus is “first stage funding” for projects designed to produce evidence required by more mainstream funding sources at a later date. Details on the application process are included for research fellowships.
